The South County ARES Roster is organized for easy check-in logging and also for monthly reporting by the AEC to the DEC. The DEC reports the member and check-in data to the Section Manager, who shares them with the Division Manager, and so on. It is important that we accurately record check-ins and membership data as part of the overall emergency management goals.
Each numbered bullet point in this list corresponds to a callout on the screen capture at the bottom of this page.
Zoom Level: Adjust the zoom level according to your personal preference for the device that you are currently using. The zoom level that you set is temporary for the device you are using. If you reload, or close and reopen the worksheet, the zoom level gets reset to the default 100%
The AEC (NY6E) will make periodic adjustments to the column groups so that most recent login date and 10 weeks of check-in data are displayed for each station. This helps to assure that the worksheet fits properly on a letter-sized page printed in landscape mode, or saved as a .PDF .
Icon Bar: use the chevron to view or collapse the Icon Bar. In most cases, the icon bar should be collapsed for more focused viewing of the worksheet while viewing or editing on-line.
Regular Stations: All regular stations should be called during the weekly net roll call. (The stations highlighted in green are ARES member.) Stations are organized by call sign suffix. Record an uppercase “V” for voice-only check-ins, or uppercase "W" for Winlink-only check-in, or uppercase “VW” to record both Voice and Winlink check-ins for the station. The NCS can record themself as "NCSW" if they have sent a Winlink Check-in form. The worksheet automatically calculate check-in totals for every category.
Visitor Stations: Visitors are not roll called but can check in during the visitor check-in period of the net. Visitor stations are organized by call sign suffix. A few blank lines are included for new visitors. Stale visitors (those with the fewest recent check-ins) will be removed from the visitor stations log to make room for new visitors. Record visiting station check-ins using "V", "W", or "VW" just as you would for regular stations.
NCS: Net Control Stations should record uppercase “NCS” in their row and column for the date(s) that they perform NCS duty, or "NCSW" if the NCS has also checked in using Winlink. Only one NCS designation should be recorded for each date, and the NCS designation should not be changed to a “V” or “VW” during or after the net. If the NCS does not perform their scheduled duty, change the NCS designation to the new NCS operator.
Row 1 displays a yellow highlight for dates when no net control station is assigned. ARES members and regular stations are encouraged to volunteer for these dates. NCS volunteers should reserve dates in advance.
Check-in totals are calculated from the station check-ins, if recorded accurately using the guidelines above.
